Summary: Perl spent WWII in charge of the woman's infirmary at Auschwitz. Hoping to leave her nightmares behind her after the liberation, she applies for American citizenship in 1946. However, she is hauled into military court to explain how much she "collaborated" with the Nazis during the war.
